When life is a highway

It weird having to type on this small box surrounded with orange and blue buttons all over again. So its been 6 months since my last post; and truthfully never have it occur for me to post here again - or even blog. However; thanks to this nagging thought, I am compelled to write this before it takes a toll on my memory space; or somehow accidentally it moves into my temporal lobe.

Life is a highway

Everyday, everyone, every time, spend a lot of time on the road. Be it to get from point A to point B, or aimless night drives just to get away from everyday familiarity. Same goes with life, we spend a lot of time being alive; but hardly living.

In life we meet obstacles and mountains; on the highway we meet - well idiots and assholes (now now, don't be picking on this - you had this at the back of your mind when that maroon lancer decided to turn into your lane without signal, so shush)

Everyone, well most - especially the lucky ones, knows where they are heading in life. I, however, am still aimlessly driving or maybe had my ignition light lit. But that's not what I intend to talk about; or what my brain has been nagging me about.

So yes driving. All of us have our certain 'safety'/'comfortable' speed. Been places. Met accidents. At times google the hot dude/girl by the street. Cut queue. Waved by the police. Beat the light. And my-ever-so-favourite, hog the road.

There's really a lot to learn about life from driving.

Road Hoggers

These are people who knows where they are going, however, at their own pace. They slow us down in life, they make us late, and sometimes accident. Included in this list are rich faggots who drives Merc going on 70kmj on a 80kmj road; new driver; the old; the lovers; and the oblivious to others - selfish bastards.

The Rich:

They were once poor; looking at other rich people driving in posh cars and hoped, wished, one day they'll be driving in something posh and show the world. So when they finally got it - they peacock, strut, and even parade to show what they have achieved - putting a good engine underused.

What they have is what most, if not everyone, wants. Money. However they are the speed bump in our lives. We will have and will bump into these fags. They tell us what they do, treat us, spend on us, show their riches, and we in a way try to emulate/follow them. Thus we gave them the right to HOG our highway in life.

And they're happy that they are given the 'respect' and have followers. Faithful followers.

The New Driver:

These is another speed bump of our life. New friends. Not to say we shouldn't make new friends but, we usually would slow down to make sure they catch up and learn up. They are great. Just sometimes, for the first few months, slow us down. But hey, we still love you buddy.

40th Post: 40 Days of Purpose

Yes its been a long absence since I actually posted anything. Hardly doubt that anyone follows too; but then again shall just post this - for the very least of putting a milestone on things that's been going on in my life.

It has been an encouraging journey on my end; of course there's some speed bumps and road blocks along the way - but definitely it has been an amazing journey. You know those moments when you just have that flash back of nagging thoughts? As Rick Warren puts it, "Its not about you. The purpose of your life is far greater than you own personal fulfilment, your peace of mine, or even your happiness."

Sometimes life just takes us on a round about, we keep seeing the same sign post saying "This way out" but we keep going - looking for the larger sign post that we want to look for. For me, it has been such a journey: Knowing what I have to do; but choosing what I want to do. When the conviction of it fell - it was too late to catch up; but no doubt a slow painful process along with letting go of my steering wheel.

The one question that keeps on ringing through my mind: "What would my family and friends say is the driving force of my life?" and "What do I want it to be?"

To be honest, I lack the drive. I am sure that things turns out well as bleak as the situation would be. I believe there's always a way out of the well we dug ourselves into. I believe that everyone is born to succeed, never failing, never giving up, never take defeat as the end.

However much I can be positive - I tend to find myself in those situation of never having a drive to pursue or chase after something. I just make do with what I have in life - its not contentment as I come to understand, but hovering on the lines of defeat and not fighting. I may put effort here and there; but at the end of the day - when I step back and look, "Why am I doing this?"

Nevertheless, God's grace has been sufficient, encouraging and perspective altering. I find myself being Gideon. I find myself being Jonah. I find myself being Job. What's amazing is each of them has the same: God's grace. God's discipline. However, I also learned - solving issues in life is like an equation. God and us working hand in hand is the solution.

Forgive my ignorance and naiveness - I use to think that surrendering means I don't do anything accept surrender, and that's a great thing for me. Just pass the responsibility to God. But that is also my downfall. Being passive about the things I do, masking and validate my reason as "God's timing", "God's plan", and literally using His name in vain.

It one thing to come before the cross and lay down our burdens, and come before the cross, lay down our burden and carry Christ back. A lot of times, I would just stop at laying it down and walk away; 'trusting in God' or a better phrase, neglect responsibility.

There's so much one can do; but it doesn't end at surrendering it to God - instead it starts with it!

"Be still and know I am God" isn't about stopping what you're doing; but stop doing it your way. In its context, complaints usually ends with someone having to say "Be quiet (still)" and complaints only happens when we have exhausted the ideas in our mind, and the methods we've learned to a point we whine for help or acknowledgement of others concerning the situation.

For me, there's a lot of unlearning - a broken masterpiece.

The other thing I learn is: Safety isn't Godly. I don't mean it as in die or do something bad. Its about not being in the comfort zone, about stepping out of the boat. Its about setting sails even the ship might shipwreck. In short its about taking a risk. Its about doing something out of comfort. Away from the safety net.

This is the one part that I love; when it comes to the comfort of the mind and the physical - God challenges. The thoughts of "It can't be done", "I'm hopeless", "I don't belong", "I can never measure up" and the physical limit of "I'm cripple, I can't stand!", "I'm ill with cancer, I'm going to die". But when it comes to the issue of the heart - that we ought to play it safe. To take comfort. God protects.

You see, the heart is the throne of the body. The mind can be in stress; but if the heart is rested and comfort - the mind will gradually relaxes. The heart controls. If the heart is the throne where a king sits, imagine a war raging: The first and last to give the order is the 'heart' and if the 'heart' is not calm, everything eventually goes wrong. But if the 'heart' is assured of victory, and nothing is going to go wrong - eventually it leads better.

That goes with our heart as well. Challenge ourselves in our thoughts and our bodies; but never ever place the heart in a place the same as the mind and body. That's why heart breaks are harder to deal with than a scolding.

With that being said, this serves as a reminder: For the future me; and to those who relates, and those who has been there for me. =)

Been sometime since I had a post that's completely random. So here goes:

Some stuffs in life happens, and the funny thing is we don't know what to do it at times. At times we can just walk at the park alone and hoping that we have someone or a group of friend to walk with and have a good chat. Other times we find ourselves stuck with a big group of friend we like but just not the time to hang out with at that moment. Choices, decisions and consequences.

Maybe its true when they say, everyone needs their time alone. Maybe it is also true when they say everyone is given rights to their own ideas and how life should be. Yet the best part - sometimes those words and thoughts were never from 'others' or from the majority - most of the time, its birthed from the idea that we need something to back us up on.

There was a writer who said - hope and denial is separated by a thin line. When you think about it - yeah it is. We hope that things will turn out for the best, and sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. When the hope does not happen and I guess clinging on sets it into denial. But as I think again and again. Love choose to hope. Reject the possibility of denial - the possibility of an inch that it would not happen. Love hopes.

In the midst of life and going through the whole motion of: Here I am, what am I going to do. Is this life. Is this where I want to be. Is this what I'm purposed for. Is life all about work. Why did I even study. Am I even applying it. What is this that I'm doing. People don't have an answer for that - we search - and gradually we form our own understanding of life - I think in life: I want to be successful, I want to be rich, I want to fall in love. Maybe that cures it, maybe that makes the cut. But don't we at times feel empty - even after doing everything - we still go home, have our dinner, lie in bed and look up. Hoping.

Maybe tomorrow is something everyone looks towards - and people worry. I learned that when we worry so much about tomorrow, it doesn't changes what happens and definitely we won't loose tomorrow - but we lost today: over thinking, paralysed, wasted. Maybe worry is a good thing - it reminds us that we have something that's lacking, a goal to accomplish. But worry is like a fire, it gives us the warmth to make sure things are ok - but it burns us if we fuel it.

A lot of people always questions why life is unfair- and why certain people made it; some don't. We envy those whose life is a straighten path. Who knows what they want and have the means to get there. Envy. Yet if we looked back - life has already been unfair since we're young. Not talking about life as in general, but each and everyone - we've been through things others won't or haven't. It could be a bad incident or a happy memory - but that's the thing, we learn lessons others would not have learned had they not been through it. Yeah its an unfair statement, but have you ever thought for a moment: all those that you've went through could have, been something useful to help others.

Today people look towards accomplishing their goal - not to blame them but its society and culture that have placed us in that spot: making it there for us; no time to worry about everyone else because everyone else should be looking out for themselves. Its not a bad thing, but it does gives a reason for people to do things as they like. And definitely one day, the very moral fibre that holds us together will break under the pressure of individualism. Where your thoughts are no more superior than mine, and vice versa.

You know, we use to think that if everyone had the same idea and think alike as ourselves the world would've been a better place. Its partly true that it does make the world a better place but definitely the world would only live up to one standard and a limit to the status quo. Think about it, if you're best is 100% to you but 50% to someone else, and then suddenly everyone started to think like you - wouldn't you be short changing the world?

One area that everyone been short changing themselves I believe is the area of relationship and love. We definitely have put aside the idea of relationship and knowing the person well enough to give us reason to hold the relationship forever. Best yet, I know plenty that have a partner - but those are not the partner they know they will not marry. Its sad. Definitely is. I still hold on to the idea that love changes people. For the good. Never for the worse.

Its not about the feelings but the action; to make someone remember again that they are special of which many of us forgot. We forgot the first love we received from our parents. How we're cradled. How love in all its splendour was in that moment - a parents dedication to their child. A love. That is a vow. To love and to hold. Until death do part.

And there goes my thoughts. Written. Now memory space is cleared by 0.01%

Oh ya one more thing. Of all colors in the world. Try not to like orange that much. Its bad.

As I sat down, I wonder how much a different could this year be since 31st Dec, was no less different than 1st Jan, in terms of weather temperature, the foolishness of politicians, the birth of life and the going of it, the fact that I still have studies to finish, the social protocol that I am oblige to follow, the collapse of music industry, the worsening of drivers mentality, and the list goes on.

However, its a wonder how things change over the last 5 months of my life - the perception of life, the never giving up spirit, and the life that seeks to follow.

I don't really know what this year brings, but I do know that seasons in life are not govern by clocks and calenders - they are govern by revelations and truth. When we get a new revelation about life, we work differently, we do things differently.

I do honor those who wrote down their resolutions to do great stuff - even though to the majority it seems to be of a minute issue, but the change they make moves them from there to here. I do have my resolution, to receive a new insight in life and what it means to be of quarter century old. To receive and perceive a new resolution and truth, and change my habits and lifestyle.

Holidays been treating me nice so far; albeit I didn't get to venture to anywhere dangerous and unknown - but I would consider Pandora to be one, if only my 3D glasses really placed me there rather than fooling my mind I'm there.

Christmas has been fun, didn't get to do much catching up - since most people of my batch have disperse far away from the tree I could only do little; but no doubt it was a great Christmas. Catching up with some of the uncle and aunts in church, and

some how or rather - they are either a recording device or loop channel, 3 words always never fails to ring

The day way followed by a great time of flag football - "The Christmas Bowl". Was really a great time to put the fats and muscles to use. For the span of the remaining days till new year's eve - I can hardly recall what I did, except visiting - beach - food - trekking - food - food - food - food - sleep - food. Yes Penang =D

New Year's eve was ... mmm slow. Wasn't the grandeur party or hyped, but nevertheless the gathering was nice and comfy enough to rant and share stuff.

On the matter of New Year - been listening a lot to Foreign Oren, for those who've yet to listen to them do get them, and this few lines have been stuck in my head and lips.

Eventually changing "christmas eve" to any other words still doesn't change the idea that after tomorrow nothing is not the same. It speaks of change, an uncontrolled change, that we are not meant to be worried about. Yes we plan, but still after tomorrow nothing is not the same.

Its been a great comfort for me to learn to let go of tomorrow's expectations and start living in the present achievements. Growing 2% a day in maturity and speech may not look that grand in comparison to 40% but nevertheless at the end of the day - I'll get there.

Was really blessed by Sunday's message.

Does being comes from doing or does

doing comes from being?

Too many a times we are stuck trying

to do things for achievements or worst

we're forced to do such, since everyone

is about hitting the target and getting there.

Its not a bad thing to hit targets,

but sometimes putting that as the

main priority makes one loses their

own self.

Am I accepted because I did well,

or because who I am - I am accepted.

We're called human beings, and not human

doings. Problem is, too many times, places

like church which ought to accept people

for who there are, and praise them for being

who they are - tend to look at the achievements

...

Doing things doesn't means loving at times,

being loving inspires you to do things.

...

But the one thing I really love: A simple statement

"I can, but I won't because I'm not"

i.e - I can go get drunk, but I won't because I'm not a person who does that.

that opened up your eyes and perspective of things,

especially when you're having a good bowl of Pork noodles

and sitting all alone to think about how those few chunks of pork

and awesome soy sauce added to the noodle could just make it

such an amazing dish.

I have learned a few things in life, but none compared to the recent 5 days.

2. In everything you do, commit and surrender it to God. Then talk with Him about life and wait upon Him

The trip back is always great.

I was a great time taking Alison

around Penang for a short chill

out tour. Did nothing much but

Do wish I could stay in Penang,

but that would just be too comfy

for me once I finish my studies.

It came to me, meeting people sometimes means

just being friendly and that's it. Not about showing

off what you can do, or what you did - but just to

What comes after that is an impact of change.

The existence of a new relationship in the current

Somehow or rather, I have never got my mind wrap up about the goodness of individualism. It does at one point escalates a person to further their dreams and ambitions, chasing after them; yet it also pushes others and collective goals aside.

Individualism deteriorates ones life whereby the world ends when their dreams or something of significance to them ends. I do agree that one have their rights to be absorb into their own world, but it doesn't mean the world revolves around them.

So to those people who thinks your assignments and activities are too much for you to help in doing the group assignments, and you think you can pass it to others to finish it for you. Do note that although there is no benefits for you in accomplishing the assignment because its not part of your individualist goals, however - collectively there will be a repercussion that will not be socially acceptable.

Had awesome time supper-ing. Been a while since I did that with my uni mates. Funny how things always revolve back to reminisce about the glory days back in HMC. Weirdly enough, it went to football (of which I am amazed I know about, albeit I don't keep track about it).

Had a great scrimmage today with myself vs sleep. Totally dependent on coffee nowadays after starting out in Starbucks. Exciting being there I would say - the people you meet sometimes makes you wonder and amazed, either good or bad - they still amazed me.

Thus as off 11th Nov till 12th Nov. In the duration of 48 hours. I only had 5 hours of sleep.
